The June Kraus International Academy for Performing Arts

There is a wealth of young musical talent in South Africa as well as its neighboring countries, and the June Kraus International Academy for Performing Arts is dedicated to helping singers toward perfecting their performance skills.

June’s Academy teaches children and adults to become outstanding vocal performers,  and offers the most promising individual students opportunities to perform in showcase concerts, in international competitions, and in professional settings!

Becoming a student at the Academy not only improves your singing, but also trains you in movement, mike techniques, dancing and acting skills, so that you achieve the best possible presentation of your talents.  June’s students have performed in Idols South Africa, and have often won competitions at the National Eisteddfod Academy, and in many other national and international venues.

As June says,

A talented vocal performance becomes truly great with the right presentation techniques as well as the best possible vocal training.  It’s not enough to copy pop stars … My students are guided to develop their own distinctive personalities and performing styles.

Coming from her own distinguished career, in which she graduated Julliard College in New York and the Mozarteum in Salzburg, and having performed in opera houses all over Europe as well as in concerts throughout South Africa, June believes in the importance of learning classical singing techniques as the great basis for the strongest possible performance in popular, contemporary and traditional African, and all other styles.

I have trained so many young people who had no idea of the extent of their natural talents until they were exposed to classical methods of training.  My students’ potential to perform increases as they realize their talents and grow in their confidence as artists.

The Academy’s teaching uses backtracks that are specially produced to suit the student’s abilities.  Her students are also able to record their own demo CDs at a professional sound studio, under June’s personal supervision.  For students moving in a professional direction, June is able to offer help preparing presentation packages of demo CDs, photos, etc., to be given to professional agents and other contacts that she maintains.

Several times each year, the Academy invites the best students to perform in a “Showcase Concert” that is held at a local theater or concert hall.  Students are able to perform on stage, using professional equipment.  Friends and family are invited, as well as professionals in the entertainment , to enjoy this performance. If you would like more information about the Academy’s upcoming international competition, about the opportunity to improve your singing and performance skills under June’s direction, or about having June personally perform at a private or public function, please contact us!
