Singing to the African Stars

The June Kraus International Academy for Performing Arts is planning to establish a competition for singers in 6 categories:

  • Classical
  • Contemporary
  • Crossover
  • African Traditional
  • African Urban
  • Afrikaans

Entrants will be judged in five age groups (5 to 7 years, 8 to 10 years, 11 to 13 years, 14 to 16 years, and 17 years and over), with male and females being judged separately.

June says:

This competition will offer professional feedback to all entrants, and will give the best young talents the opportunity to compete, to improve their skills, to win prizes, and to move toward professional accomplishments. We plan to start in Gauteng Province, including going into the townships, the rural areas, and the suburbs. In future years, we are going to expand this competition across southern Africa. It is an ambitious plan that will uplift the art of singing throughout our many communities.

Watch this website for further details! You will be able read more soon. Entry forms are expected to be available on this site in October 2011.
